Bilcare suggests anti-counterfeiting measures

Bilcare points out the dire need for anti-counterfeiting measures to combat this ever increasing issue. The counterfeiting of drugs has become a major concerning issue in the pharmaceutical industry. According to a recent report, an estimated worth of $2 billion is added to the drug counterfeit industry every year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) pointed out that around 10-30 % of the products in circulation in majority of the developing countries are illegally counterfeited. They are a potential threat to pharmaceutical industry and are harmful for the consumers. Bilcare, a prominent name in the pharma packaging industry points out that not only the ingredients used in counterfeited drugs are incorrect; they are also harmful and can cause severe damage to human health. The consumption of these drugs results in the patient experiencing no relief along with the negative side effects due to harmful ingredients found within the drugs.

Various mock-pharmaceutical websites provide an easy access of counterfeited drugs to the customers including doctors and hospitals at a cheaper price.  The Pharma packaging companies are developing various new medical packaging techniques to ensure anti-counterfeiting and make it difficult for the counterfeit rings to create the replica of package designs.Bilcare suggests pharmaceutical serialization to keep a track of medications through the medical supply chain. This method helps in tracing the complete history of medication.

A great deal of responsibility and accountability at every level is required in the process of pharmaceutical serialization.  This track and trace system has proved to be a great effective measure in the pharma industry to prevent counterfeiting of products. The company focuses on various ot measures like the use of hologram stamps to point out the authenticity of product, ordering prescriptions from accredited and licensed websites, the use of liners and seal to indicate the freshness of products to ensure anti-counterfeiting in pharma industry.
