Measures to ensure Anti counterfeiting by Bilcare

Visible Features:
Overt or visible features are intended to enable end users to verify the authenticity of a pack and ensure anti-counterfeiting. Such features will normally be prominently visible, and difficult or expensive to reproduce. It should be noted that overt features can add significant cost, may restrict supply availability, and require education of end users to be effective. Where overt features are used, experience is often that counterfeiters will apply a simple copy which mimics the genuine device, sufficiently well to confuse the average user. They also require utmost security in supply, handling and disposal procedures to avoid unauthorized diversion. They should be applied in such a way that they cannot be reused or removed without being defaced or causing damage to the pack – otherwise genuine used components may be recycled with fake contents, giving a false impression of authenticity. For this reason an overt device might be incorporated within a Tamper Evident feature for added security. They prove as a great measure to ensure anti- counterfeiting.

Hidden Features:
The purpose of a covert or hidden feature is to enable the brand owner to identify counterfeited product and help promoting anti-counterfeiting. The general public will not be aware of its presence nor have the means to verify it. A covert feature should not be easy to detect or copy without specialist knowledge, and their details must be controlled on a “need to know” basis. If compromised or publicized, most covert features will lose some if not all of their security value. For this reason such techniques will not be disclosed in detail.

TRACK and TRACE Technologies:
A number of Track and Trace applications are under development for the pharmaceutical sector for ensuring anti- counterfeiting, although the principles have been established for many years in other contexts. These involve assigning a unique identity to each stock unit during manufacture, which then remains with it through the supply chain until its consumption and thus ensures anti- counterfeiting. This identity will normally include details of the product name and strength, and the lot number and expiry date – although in principle it may simply take the form of a unique pack coding which enables access to the same information held on a secure database. (This latter solution overcomes some of the concerns about privacy where the encoded data can be read at a distance by radio equipment.)

Technology for Anti-counterfeiting by Bilcare: nonClonable

The increasing level of competition in every sector of the society results in the major issues like Counterfeiting and forging. In order to maximize their profits, the manufactures tend to compromise with the quality of their products. Counterfeiting has hazardous influence on the society and it becomes difficult for the consumers to differentiate the genuine products from the others. It is becoming common in the pharmaceuticals industry as many products are forged and sold as original which results in hazardous health issues in the society.

It is a matter of fact that around 5% to 7% of all world trade belongs to counterfeited products. There arises a dire need for awareness and appropriate steps for anti-counterfeiting. According to Bilcare Technologies, the pharmaceutical and medical industry needs the most attention in the issues related to counterfeiting. This industry affects the life and well-being of society; therefore anti-counterfeiting measures are the need of the hour and subsequently become the major concerning issue.

Bilcare adopts highly effective anti-counterfeiting measures

Reports say that about 5% to 7% of all world trade belongs to the field of counterfeiting. It is disappointing to know that besides all the achievement of medical sciences, the industry suffers from the problem of counterfeiting. Many companies are undertaking anti-counterfeiting measures but only some stand successful against the developments that happen with time. Bilcare Technologies believes that medical industry is a very sensitive one as it affects the lives of people. Counterfeiting in this industry, hence, becomes a much bigger problem.

Counterfeiting has affected the global scenario of trade. They damage the reputation of brand owners and puts consumers in a more vulnerable position. It can also seriously affect the health and safety of the consumers and can substantially reduce the profits of the legitimate players in the market.
Bilcare fully understands the criticality of the situation and thus, it has offered a full-proof end-to-end solution which is called t he nonClonableID™ technology.

Bilcare defeating Anti counterfeiting

Counterfeiting in pharmaceutical industry is a common sight nowadays where few unsocial creatures put other people’s lives at risk for the sake of their own benefit. With the availability of substitute chemicals and drugs everywhere, the cloning has become easier than ever and because of that it has increased so rapidly in the last decade that the common man cannot spot the difference with his naked eye. That is why most of the pharmaceutical companies are coming up with new measures to cope with this problem as soon as possible so that the population which is consuming it, can be saved with the help of those newly invented techniques and methodologies.

Bilcare is familiar with the need of this hour and it is working day and night to ensure that illegal practices like counterfeiting are put on a halt and eventually get abolished form the society. nonClonableID is one of its kind technology which has been developed by Bilcare with the help of their R&D in micro and nanotechnology. Cope with pharmaceutical counterfeiting with the following checklist

We live in an age where the highest and all pervasive motive behind most actions is mercenary. Most of us are driven by financial profits and it seems no big surprise that the pharmaceutical industry is also a culprit in such an age. Counterfeiting in the medical industry has become a commonplace sight, duping people into paying more money in exchange of lower-quality medicines. It is a common crime but equally disheartening because exploiting people in a field like medicine stands for lack of humanity today. A poor regulation of rules, many intermediaries, and low awareness are all factors which add up to the incidence of counterfeiting.

This false representation of a medical product’s identity compels the consumer to compromise with their brand loyalty due to the lack of trust because this counterfeiting seems almost real. The Pharma companies should use one or all of the following measures, which are effective anti counterfeiting methods, to ensure the safety of customers and avoid this unwanted consequences:
  • Using Hologram: There are numerous companies who are using the holograms on their products to differentiate them from others and preserve their originality which certainly avoids the risk of counterfeiting.

  • Pedigree: It is a document or an E-file which is a part of tracking and tracing technology to tackle with anti counterfeiting. In this strategy, pedigree records all the information of distribution of drugs & medicines which are being dispatched from the manufacturer to the end party who verify the whole consignment thoroughly using that pedigree.

  • Data Carriers: It is a graphical system which is used to transmit the information related with the product in digital but human readable format which can either be 2D/ linear barcodes or RFID tags.

  • GTIN: Global trade item number is a unique identification number which is not only digital but also ensures the guidelines being followed as per GS1 allocation rules for the trade products and services.

Apart from the aforementioned anti counterfeiting methods, there are others which are being followed in many countries, like Epothecary is that mobile based authentication system which recently has been proposed in India. Taking various measures to cope with counterfeiting of drugs and medicines is not enough to eradicate it from the world, educating the masses regarding this problem will contribute in saving the pharmaceutical industry.

Measures to cope with counterfeiting of drugs & medicines

Nowadays people are so money minded that they won’t mind risking other people’s lives while seeking their own benefit. Counterfeiting in pharmaceutical industry is that risk which grabbed attention of the government. It not only causes the scarcity of resources but also increases the expenses of concerned authorities to cope with the situation, just like the government. Poor regulation of rules, lack of awareness towards the counterfeiting and a higher number of intermediaries are few of those factors which are associated with it. There is a need to implement anti counterfeiting methods to deal with the problem of counterfeiting because it’s going to increase in near times as the prices of every second thing is skyrocketing.
